AI Escape Maker Privacy Policy

This page is the privacy policy for the smartphone app "AI Escape Maker" (Japanese name: AI脱出メーカー, "the App") only.

In the App you make and publish escape games and play games made by others. Games and comments you publish are therefore stored on our servers and are visible to other users. Below we describe what is sent where.

1. Accounts

  • You can play and make games without signing in, as a guest (an anonymous user ID).
  • To publish games and for some other features you sign in with Google or Apple. We then store the email address used for sign-in and your user ID on our server (Supabase).
  • The display name you choose is shown to other users. Your email address is never shown to other users.

2. Games, comments and other content you post

  • We store the games you make (text, puzzles, pictures of rooms and items, including photos and images you choose), drafts, comments, ratings, likes, follows and the contents of reports on our server.
  • Published games, display names and comments are shown to other users. Games published "link only" are not listed or searchable, but anyone with the link can see them.
  • Photos and images used in a game are sent to our server as part of the game and are shown to its players. Please do not publish photos with faces or anything that identifies a person.
  • We store play records (played, cleared, time taken, where a player got stuck) for creators' statistics (such as the clear rate) and for finding bugs. Creators only see totals, not who played.

3. Reports and moderation

You can report or block inappropriate games, comments and users in the App. Reports reach us; we review them and act, for example by unpublishing a game or suspending an account. We use an email delivery service (Resend) to receive reports.

4. Advertising

  • The App shows ads (Google AdMob). Premium (a paid subscription) shows no ads.
  • On iPhone we ask for permission to use the advertising identifier (IDFA) through the tracking prompt. The App works the same if you decline.
  • To show ads, AdMob may process the advertising identifier, approximate location (from the IP address) and ad views and taps.

5. Analytics and crash reports

To improve the App we collect screen usage with Google Analytics for Firebase and crash records with Firebase Crashlytics. New-game notifications use Firebase Cloud Messaging; we store a notification token and the device language. You can turn notifications off in the App's settings.

6. Purchases

Premium is bought through the App Store or Google Play; we never receive card numbers or other payment details. We receive the purchase status (active or not, expiry, product) through RevenueCat and store it on our server linked to your user ID.

7. Used only on your device

  • Microphone: in games with a "blow" puzzle, the App measures only the loudness on your device to tell whether you blew. Nothing is recorded, stored or sent. You can also play by pressing and holding instead.
  • Motion sensors: used on your device for "shake / tilt" puzzles and never sent.
  • Translation: "Play translated" translates on your device with Google's on-device translation (ML Kit). Game text is not sent (the translation data is downloaded to the device the first time).
  • Photos: the App reads only the photos you pick. If you use one in a game it is sent as part of the game, as in section 2.
  • The web version (a page where you can play a little in the browser) needs no sign-in and asks for no personal information. Only when you choose "Continue in the app" do we keep, on our server, how far you got in that game (the scene, items and so on) together with a 6-letter code, so the app can continue from there. This record is deleted after 7 days.

8. Generative AI

"Ask generative AI" copies a request for you to paste into a generative AI service of your choice. The App does not send your game to such services itself; the service you paste into handles it under its own policy. The on-device AI (drafting a game) does not send anything off the device.

When you use "Ask AI" while making a game, the text of your request and the names of the things in the scene (a desk, a door, …) and of the game's items are sent to our server and to an outside processing service, only to understand what you asked for. We do not store this text or these names, and we do not use them for advertising. Nothing that identifies you (such as your name or email address) is sent to the processing service. To prevent overuse, we briefly count how many requests you made in the last minute; the count is deleted after a minute. Without a connection, your request is read on your device only.

9. Sharing with third parties

Except where required by law, we do not sell or provide personal information to third parties. The services named above (Supabase, Google Firebase, Google AdMob, RevenueCat, Resend, Google ML Kit) handle information as our processors or as built-in components under their own policies. We require these processors to protect the information at a level at least equal to this policy.

10. Retention and deletion

  • You can delete your account and the games, comments and records you made at any time from Settings → Delete account in the App.
  • Deleted data is erased after the period technically needed (for example for backups). Records needed by law or for safety, such as how a report was handled, may be kept only as long as necessary.
  • If you accepted a friend's invite, we keep, even after your account is deleted, only an irreversible hash of the Apple / Google account identifier you signed in with, so the same person cannot receive the invite reward more than once. It cannot be used to identify you or to recover your e-mail address or other details.

11. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13. Games with scary content are not shown to users who say they are under 18.

12. Changes and contact

We will announce changes to this policy on this page. Please contact us through the form or by e-mail below.
